The Attorneys General of Washington State, Minnesota, Oregon and Colorado banded together to file a lawsuit against one of the recent Executive Orders banning healthcare services to persons under 18 years old. Three individual doctors also joined as plaintiffs in the case, bringing claims on their own behalf and that of the minors for whom they provide care.
The States argued this Executive Order violates the 5th Amendment’s equal protection guarantee by singling out transgender individuals for mistreatment and discrimination.
The Court agreed and ruled this Executive Order “blatantly discriminated against trans youth.” And so for now, it is blocked.
